After promos, I sat down and caught up with the whole of How I Met Your Mother. Heard it couple of years back, discovered it last year (and pretty much knew what the hell was going on without even watching, i.e. the existence of Stella, the Barney/Robin business) and finally watched it this year.

Hello, new favourite show. It's like Friends, but I like it more ~~cause HIMYM has more sex jokes hahahaha~~.

So many people who watch the show are all about Cobie Smulders and NPH. Not that I don't think there are awesome, because they totally are (Cobie is gorgeous and NPH is just fi-iiine), but I'm seriously crushing on Alyson Hannigan.

She is so adorable and amazing. Plus Marshall and Lily are the world's cutest couple. HI-FIVE, ANYONE? Sort of re-watching the original American Pie trilogy just for her. Plus the original's the best. The spin-offs are kinda lame.

The cast of House is probably my second favourite after Battlestar. Lisa Edelstein, Robert Sean Leonard and Hugh Laurie are just HILARIOUS on set. And they all just genuinely love each other very much.

I've decided to make my journal 50% locked - only personal stuff are locked. Also, I feel like changing my username. Should I spent $15 on a new username? I wanted to get a tumblr account, since most of the time stuff I want to post are pretty short. But I figured that I should just micro-blog here. Or should I? Hmmm.

(picspam) It's the characters, stupid.

I've been wanting to do this about a few hours after I watched the finale. This is probably the what, 309172 review post you've read? But whatever. It took like, a week to do this because I was so caught up with school and blah blah.

This is just the last few moments, according to characters. It's pretty much my thoughts on the resolution of each character/group (?). It's organized chronologically (sort of), but according to the characters as well (I try).

Spoilers, obv.

I don't think that the finale is perfect. It isn't. There were definitely moments which I found unsatisfying, but all in all, I was strangely contented with it.

My general review of the finale is positive. I read many, many reviews and there was an insane amount of negative ones, especially since it's the series finale of a critically acclaimed show. When I was reading, there were times where I thought, HEY THAT MAKES SENSE, and was tempted to change my opinion. Then I would think about it again, and in the end, I still stuck with my original positive review. It's not a 100%, but it's enough. For me, anyway.

Space porn was freaking awesome though. When I saw it, I turned to alex_kingston and radon_ and asked, "How much do you guys think that cost?" Both of them were like, "ALOT." Cause well, the three of us flailed like little girls when the new cool centurions were beating up the old school centurions. It was wicked.

So, there were people who don't understand why Sammy has to be the one to pilot the essentially empty fleet into the sun and blah. I never thought that there was a hope for Sam. Never thought that there was a chance that Sammy would be de-hybridized. Or something like that. For him to be a normal human again.

What other but to let Sammy sacrifice himself? This brings me to the topic of the fleet abandoning their technology. I think, in a sense, it's the abandonment of advanced technology such as inter-stellar travel (including raptors) etc, and not to an extent where the colonials and cylons would not be able to survive 150,000 years. Because they obviously did.

They went back to their roots as much as they can, I suppose (ie. Gaius and the whole farming thing). But honestly, I don't really give a damn about this part. Yes, it's important to the plot, perhaps, but I'm not interested in it. For me, I'm more interested in how each character's arc wraps up.

By the way, at this point (where Sammy pilots the fleet into the sun), radon_ was positively bawling.

Tyrol: Yeah, I'm sure. Just tired of people. Humans, cylons, whatever. Last raptor out tomorrow is gonna drop me off this island that I found in one of the northern continents. It's cold, it's up in the highlands... There's no people.
Saul: Good luck. For what is worth, if what happened to Cally had happened to Ellen, I would have done the same frakking thing.

I thought this was an appropriate end for Tyrol. He's tired of people. People, humans or cylons, always seem to find a way to screw him over. Boomer betrayed him in the worst possible way ever, Nicky isn't really his son, Tory murdered Cally... IDK. I can probably see why he would want to get away from it all.

Though can I just mention that I love the Tighs? Yup yup. (I typed 'thighs'.)

Just... ♥ They are the dysfunctional, 1000 year old couple. And I adore them.

The Agathons! No matter what is being thrown at them, they somehow manage to remain as the happiest family in the fleet (that we know of). I LOVE THEM.

And I did not expect Helo to live. I was so distraught when Helo got shot and was so scared for him. And then when he appeared in this scene, all three of us yelled at the screen and started cheering. Because it's Helo! He's pretty and he's got awesome arms. But yeah, the Agathons. ♥

Gaius: Hera. Will she be alright?
Head!Six: She survived. Thanks to you.
Head!Baltar: Both of you.
Caprica 6: And that's it? That's all God wants of us?
Head!Six: God's plan is never complete.
Gaius: Great.
Head!Baltar: But I think it's safe to say that from now on, your lives will be less... eventful.

I'm gonna talk about the head!characters first.

By the end of the episode, I did accept them as angels, as messengers from God. I know people are skeptical about the whole 'God' thing, and are not contented with the fact that this journey is part of God's plan. I liked that they kept it ambiguous. In some ways, it reflects real life for me. Please note that I am not criticizing the religion and nor am I trying to pick an argument with someone, but these are merely my observations.

Being someone who studies in a Methodist school, I've noticed that many of my schoolmates (or just the school in general) don't question God or God's plan. Many of them accept that their life is a journey and it's all part of God's plan. God has a plan for them. They don't question the existence of God, but they accept and respect it. They don't question His plan either.

That's how I see the 'God' of Battlestar. I'm not sure if this makes sense to any of you guys, but it makes sense to me.

Once again, these are observations. I'm not saying it's true, but it's what I've noticed.

Gaius: Over there between those two peaks... I saw some terrain that look good for cultivation.
Caprica 6: Cultivation?
Gaius: Yes. Y'know, I know about farming.
Caprica 6: I know. [kisses him] I know you do.

These two surprised me the most. Albeit in a pleasant way. I did not expect them to end up together. I really didn't. But I'm really glad that they did. Boy, was radon_ excited at this scene.

This scene also touched me when I least expected it. Gaius had spent his whole life deovted to running away from his roots, forgetting his less-than-stellar background and yet, when it all comes down, he's back there. Farming. I really liked the circular notion of it.

(I'm leaving all the Bill and Laura scenes to the last. Yeap.)

Lee: Dad?
Bill: I don't have much time, son.
Lee: I understand.

Bill: What do you hear, Starbuck?
Kara: Nothing but the rain.
Bill: Grab your gun, and bring in the cat.

Kara: You should go.

My heart broke. I mean, look at their faces! And the exchange between Bill and Kara! Gods.

lee and kara.

Lee: Y'know my very earliest memory of my father was him flying away in a big plane. I wondered when he was coming back. Not coming back this time.
Kara: No, he's not. [pause] Neither am I.
Lee: Where are you going?
Kara: I don't know. I just know that I am done here. I've completed my journey and... it feels good.

I believe that both Lee and Kara know that Laura doesn't have much time left, and Bill is going to spend every waking moment with her, however long that is. They don't know how much time she has left (which turned out to be really short), they just know it's short. Ultimately, it's a call back to Sine Qua Non for me.

Bill cannot live without Laura. And the space!kids knows that.

Kara: So what about you? What are you gonna do? Today, is the first day of the rest of your life, Lee.
Lee: I always thought when this is all done, I would kick back, relax, spend the rest of my days doing the absolute minimum possible.
Kara: And now that you're here?
Lee: I wanna explore! I wanna climb the mountains, I wanna cross the oceans, I wanna... Gods, I can't believe I'm saying all these, it's sounds so exhausting. I must be cra--

Lee: Goodbye, Kara. You won't be forgotten.

I've always seen Lee and Kara as star-crossed lovers. And the flashbacks just further proved it to me. There's the incident in Scar, Kara's sudden marriage to Anders... IDK. But that's how I see these two. They are drawn to each other, but are somehow just not meant to be.

As for Kara herself... IDK. An angel who was sent to lead everyone. Instead of being visible to selected individuals, everyone can see her. IDK.

(take out the kleenex, kthx)

Laura: There are so... many. Wait, I wanna see more detail.

Laura: [coughs]

[Bill clutches her hand tighter and Laura chuckles]

Laura: It's... a very beautiful world. Does it have a name?
Bill: Earth.

[Laura scoffs]

Laura: It's not Earth.
Bill: Earth is a dream. One we've been chasing for a long time. We've earned it. This is Earth.
Laura: Okay then. Earth. [chuckles] It's fine. [takes a deep breath] I'm having trouble... breathing.

This is a random habitable planet that Kara has led the fleet to. It's not the real Earth. Real Earth is a fucking nuclear wasteland. But Bill has decided to name this plant Earth because well, yeah. So people, stop commenting why are there 2 Earths. There isn't. There's only one. This planet that we have come to know as Earth is known as Earth because it represents hope.

That's what I think, anyway.

This is the part where I start to lose my calm and start crying.

Bill: Would you like to get a better look at them?
Laura: Yes, I'd-d love that. What do you mean?
Bill: Watch.
Laura: What? Why? What are you doing?
Bill: Watch me.
Laura: What are you doing?
Bill: Put your arm around me, can you?

Laura: So much... life.
Bill: It's a rich continent. There's more wildlife than all the 12 colonies put together. [chuckles]

[Laura dies quietly without Bill noticing]

I liked that Laura died quietly, and more importantly, peacefully. She has led her people to a new home; she's not gonna be forgotten. I feel that her fear in Six of One was that she's gonna die without knowing if her people is gonna be safe, and the fact that she didn't complete her mission would hence make her... forgettable. And she's afraid of that.

The irony in the line "so much life" breaks my heart. It's at this point, I think, that I was such a bawling mess that radon_ actually turned to me and asked if I was okay. Even alex_kingston was crying, and she isn't the crying sort. All three of us were just taking kleenex piece after piece.

Bill: Just looking for a quiet little place for that cabin. Maybe a garden. I don't have much of a green thumb, so I hope that you do.

[Bill notices that Laura has passed]

I don't think I can ever watch episodes such as Unfinished Business or A Day in the Life wthout thinking about this scene (and the final one). Anything that reminds me of their cabin... yeah.

I showed my mom, who has zero idea what Battlestar is all about and its characters, Bill and Laura's last arc, and she cried. She cried. And she had no idea who the characters are and what it's all about.

The ring scene! I'm pretty sure everyone started thinking about The Hub. I love it. I remember reading an interview with Mary, and she was saying that this was a difficult scene to film, because she could feel Eddie's tears on her hands and that made her want to cry but she couldn't because she was supposed to be dead.

Bill: Right there. I wanna build it right there, Laura.

Bill: I laid out the cabin today. It's gonna have an easterly view. You should see the light that we get here when the sun comes from behind those mountains. It's almost heavenly. It reminds me of you.

This is it. This is the scene that really, really gets me whenever I watch it. It reminds me of this absolutely fantastic piece of fanfiction that I read a while ago and it breaks my heart. It's just so... heartbreakingly beautiful.

People who watched the finale wondered why Bill had to leave everyone behind and spend the rest of his days beside Laura's grave, talking to her grave.

I like to think that Bill never lasted long after Laura died. In the end, he died of a broken heart. He can't live without her.

Ultimately, the series finale wasn't satisfying enough to me in terms of plot, but I was with the characters. After all, Ron Moore focused on the characters. "It's the characters, stupid!" I'm glad that he didn't attempt to explain questions such as "What is Kara?" "What is the nature of the head!characters?" in detail. It would probably involve lots of technobabble which don't make sense and essentially taking away the essense of this show, which had never really focused on such things before.

It has been a wonderful, wonderful journey. One week, and I'm already missing the show sfm.

04. they are fanfuckingtastic actors

Stephen King: This is a beautifully written show, driven by character rather than effects… but the effects are damn good. And there’s not a better acting troupe at work on television.

Alan Sepinwall, The Star-Ledger: What makes Galactica so gripping is its emphasis on character over hardware. The explosions and the killer robots are cool, but they don't stack up to seeing fully-drawn people - brought to life by a great writing staff led by producer Ron Moore and an astonishing cast led by Edward James Olmos and Mary McDonnell - grapple with these life-or-death, genocide-level decisions.

Tim Goodman, San Francisco Chronicle: The acting in Battlestar Galactica is superb, the characters nuanced and multilayered, and the issues broad, deep and current. / Instead of pyrotechnic effects, the emphasis is on the writing; the acting, which is raw but nuanced; and the direction, which must be nimble as most scenes are shot inside a cramped spaceship… Both Olmos and McDonnell lend a certain ballast to the old notions of sci-fi theatricality. As veteran actors, they hold down the series but, in truth, a wide variety of solid performances throughout the ensemble cast kept this series intriguing and viable from Season 1 on.

James Poniewozik, Time: Most of you probably think this entry has got to be a joke. The rest of you have actually watched the show. Adapted from a cheesy '70s Star Wars clone of the same name, Galactica (returning in January) is a ripping sci-fi allegory of the war on terror, complete with religious fundamentalists (here, genocidal robots called Cylons), sleeper cells, civil-liberties crackdowns and even a prisoner-torture scandal. The basic-cable budget sometimes shows in the production, but the writing and performances are first-class, especially Edward James Olmos as the noble but authoritarian commander in charge of saving the last remnants of humanity. Laugh if you want, but this story of enemies within is dead serious, and seriously good.

Jen Segrest, reviewing ‘Pegasus’ for TV Squad: Tricia Helfer's portrayal of the distraught imaginary Six, and that of the abused clone, was hard to watch. Even though she did little but lay there, when she did move it was heartbreaking as her mind finally connects back to cruel reality and a shaky hand reaches for food. You really feel they are far more human than they are getting credit for, but at the same time you have a problem trying to feel sympathy for any form of Six. She's always been so manipulative and domineering, at least the version we know, to see one so vulnerable is almost as shocking as what they did to her.

Katee Sackhoff:I’ve never seen growth in an actress like Grace. You’re inspiring.

Katee Sackhoff: Up to that point, I had always played pretty stereotypical blond roles. This was definitely a stretch for me. I wear high heels and dresses. I am a total girly girl. Now people avoid me at the gym.

And we can never, ever forget Michael Hogan's acting eye. SRSLY.

05. they are wicked smart (most of the time)

Galactica deals with the fundamental survival of the human race, and yet even in the shadow of Armageddon we still bring all our human foibles with us; our prejudices, dysfunctions, insecurities – what do you think these people have learned from their predicament, thus far?

Edward James Olmos: I honestly think that these people are learning that things are only going to get worse. I think they’re learning that hope is something that is bred inside and must be sustained inside because there’s really nothing on the outside showing them any kind of relief. They must develop their inner strengths, and I think that leads you into what is happening to most of these people now. Those who have not committed suicide, those who have not self-destructed, those who want to see the advancement of the human species; they are the “Alpha” and the Alpha represents the survival of the fittest.

There’s a scene in the last episode of season two where I’m with Colonel Tigh and I tell him that his wife, Ellen, is the most gifted person I’ve [Adama] ever seen in my life because she’ll live no matter what she has to do or who she has to go through. It’s incredible. But sometimes that’s in fact what it takes, and people like that, ironically, are often the ones who survive. Interesting, isn’t it?

Jamie Bamber: [On the themes of the show] It's that human struggle of waking up every day in the world and trying to make sense of a sometimes absurd existence. We all try to do that. These people are searching for meaning in very fragmented lives, but that's what we all do when you pare it down. When you pare it down to 50,000 people, the drama is greater. That's the essence of good drama, it's about trying to find out why and what, and it’s a quest for meaning. We've got our own refugees [in our world], people are just trying to find a place to thrive and prosper in the galaxy. I think that's also the key to it, it's not about party politics, it examines many different things and we can debate whether the Cylons are more sympathetic than humans, and that often surprises people. In the original, it was much more a good versus evil story.

What do you think the impact of the show has had on the sci fi genre?

Katee Sackhoff: I think what Battlestar Galactica did for Sci Fi is they treated it like a reality. That’s what was so interesting about our show. We never relied on science fiction to drive the show. We relied on the drama and the communication, and those really important questions. That’s what we depended on for the show, and to get the show moving along. Most science fiction shows rely too much on the bells and whistles. I think this kind of opens the door for science fiction to realize that regardless – science fiction is just a setting, it’s not a show. It’s a setting; it’s where something takes place. It should not ever have been what the show is. I think that for the first time what [BSG] has done is to prove that it could be done.

Mary McDonnell: The thing I love most about Battlestar is the question it's raising - and this season, the question is more prominent - of how do we perceive ourselves in relation to 'the other'? That is the essential question to me of our planet. Until we understand that the other is us, we are going to be continually in these wars and do things that create divisiveness.

A lot of what I see in the world is us and them, the good guy and the bad guy. To begin to understand that there's a bit of projecting on the bad guy and that he's a part of us... That's kind of why this show is so compelling. Even when people don't quite get it, there is something in here that we need to evolve toward.

All the paradigms we had [in our world] are colliding. For me as an actress, to go inside this work is refreshing and illuminating and feels more alive, because it's about that which we must move toward.

And I still find it incredible, Craig, that we still use the word ‘race’ as a cultural determinant... Because I detest what we’ve done to ourselves. Out of a need to make ourselves different from one another, we’ve made the word ‘race’ a way of expressing culture... I just heard one of the most prolific statements done by one of the great humanitarians, who’s really trying to organize and bring us together, and he used the word ‘race’ as if there was a Latino race, an Asian race, an Indigenous race, a Caucasian race... or a Latino race. There’s no such thing as a Latino race. There never has been. There never has been. There never will be. There’s only one race, and that’s what the show brought out. That is the human race. Period.

Now the pressure comes, why did we start to use the word ‘race’ as a cultural determinant? The truth is, over 600 years ago, the Caucasian race decided to use it as a cultural determinant so it’ll be easier for them to kill another culture. That was a total understanding. To kill one culture from another culture; you couldn’t kill your own race. So you had to make them the other. And till this day, I spent 37 years of my adult life, trying to get this word out, and now I end up well-prepared as the Admiral of the Battlestar Galactica, to say it to all of you. There is but one race, and that is it. So say we all!

However, the cast have their moments as well -- Minotaur vs Centaur

Eddie: Centaur.
UGO: Any logic within that?
Eddie: No.

Mary: I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!
UGO: Half man half bull, versus half man half horse.
Mary: Half man half bull, versus half man half horse... I would say half man half horse. And the reason is the bullish part would already be in the man, and he would have the swiftness of a horse.

Grace: Probably the... wait, and we’re gonna say that they both have equal ability with their weapons?
UGO: Yeah.
Grace: I would say that the half man half horse with the crossbow. Is that what you said? That’s one of the options? Uhm, because I feel a horse has… a horse can run fast, it’s very strong and with a crossbow you can probably attack a bull before it has a chance to start getting going at you.

Tricia: I don’t know what a minotaur is, or a centaur.
UGO: Half man half bull is a minotaur, and half man half horse is a centaur.
Tricia: A bull. The minotaur thing. Uh, bulls are usually meaner than horses? That’s all I can say.

James: I have no idea. Who thinks of those things? You do? Somebody Stop Today, I Want to Get Off, From Ron

I don't want this day to happen.

I want it to be rescheduled, rethought, removed and recalled.

Tomorrow the story will be over, my tale having been told, and never again will there be the sweet anticipation of waiting for the next episode to be shown to fans and friends. The thought of it makes my heart ache even as swells with pride.

All I know is that today there is a show called Battlestar Galactica and tomorrow there was.

There will be joy in that too, I'm sure, touching the thread of memory and feeling it resonate all the way back to soundstages, locations, cutting rooms, writers' rooms, and sound bays where I lived for all these years and being comforted by the knowledge that a part of me will never truly leave those places. There will be reunions and retrospectives, special editions and extended cuts, interviews and seminars. Solace can be found.

We'd called the last season Senior Year and here, today, as I prepare to present the final episode to an audience of friends, colleagues, and family, I find myself feeling the same way I did on Graduation day at Chowchilla Union High, all those years ago. The mosaic of faces I'd grown accustomed to seeing day after day would regroup for one last event, one last celebration of our lives together and what we'd done, and then it would be gone but for the transcendent threads of memory waiting to resonant down through the years. I didn't want that day to happen either and fervently wished for it to be rescheduled, rethought, removed and recalled.

Somehow I get the feeling that today's wish will not be granted either. So this day, like that one, will wax and wane and all I can do is ride the wave and let it carry me where it will.

Thank you, all of you for coming here through the years. The shippers and the haters, and everyone in between; you've watched and you've posted and you've been a touchstone for my experience with the audience ever since that night back in 2003 when we first declared that the Cylons were created by Man and things were going to be different. It's been a genuine pleasure to surf your thoughts, rants, questions, snarks, complaints, praise, and humor as you watched our story play out and rest assured I will be here again tomorrow poring through the posts, laughing, cursing, sometimes just shrugging at what you take away from this crazy show.

It's been an honor to be your storyteller.

Rachael Yamagata- Elephants... Teeth Sinking into Heart I love Rachael Yamagata and I was super psyched about this album because it's been a long time coming. I'm not crazy about every single track, but there are quite a number of tracks that I really, really, really like.
Santogold- Santogold I first heard her song Lights Out on Gossip Girl and decided to check her out. Her album turned out to be super addictive and super awesome. Super fun to sing along too, strangely.

Adele- 19 Amazing voice, and even more amazing live. Her version of Bob Dylan's 'Make You Feel My Love' is fantastic. She really makes the song her own.
Ashlee Simpson- Bittersweet World
Britney Spears- Circus This album, like her previous one Blackout, is addictive.

Kings of Leon- Only by the Night SEX ON FIRE SEX ON FIRE SEX ON FIRE. Critics don't really like this album, but I really do.

Mary McDonnell I love this woman so damn much. She's beautiful, and just so smart when she speaks and answers questions. Plus she's an amazing, amazing actress. Absolutely phenomenal.

Tina Fey She is the kind of person that I aspire to be. She's super intelligent and funny and in my opinion, the fact that she's gorgeous is like a bonus. The main reason I love her is because she's... her. Just her. Just Tina. With or without Sarah Palin, she's amazing.

Amanda Tapping I first found out about her last year, actually, when she appeared in Comic Con photos with the Battlestar group. I remember thinking that she's really pretty, but then I never really got any further. But then this year, some of my f-list started to talk alot about her, and it spiked my curiosity. BAM. I FELL IN LOVE.

30 Rock Tina Fey could probably do no wrong.

Battlestar Galactica Favourite show EVER. Season 4.0 was heartbreaking and amazing and perfect in every single way. January 16 cannot come soon enough. AND OH, THE HIATUS IS ALMOST OVER. But it's ending and I'm devastated. GODS, I'M TORN.

House The season 4 two-parter finale was the perfect end to a crappy season (I blame the strike). Then season 5 came along and it's been wonderful so far. The thing about House is that the patients are the patients and the doctors' personal lives are the doctors' personal lives. If that makes sense at all.

Sanctuary The show just keeps getting better and better.

Stargate SG-1 I am super aware that the show ended last year. But I started watching it only this year (in the middle of season 4 now) and I really love it. The main characters are just so likeable (IMO anyway) and it's funny. Though Sam/Jack just beaks my heart. THIRD MOVIE COME NOW PLZ.

True Blood I can't tell if it's really bad, or if it's really good, but it's just really crack. HEEE.

Number 1: The episode's called These Ties That Bind. The fifth (or third, however you see it) episode of the fourth season of Battlestar Galactica is called The Ties That Bind.
Number 2: The director of the episode is Eric Stoltz, who plays Daniel Graystone, one of the main characters in the Battlestar Galactica prequel, Caprica.

Alex: [to Dixon] Uh, Dr. Stevens is prepping your transplant patient for surgery. They scheduled a uh, transplant six years ago, but the heart was too small, so they doubled up and added a donor heart to help his own heart function. They did a piggyback--
Dixon: Heterotopic... transplant. Piggyback, is the colloquial name for the procedure. Don't do that. [whispers] Don't do that.

[awkward silence]

Bailey: How about we take you to meet the patient?

[Dixon, Bailey and Alex walks in]

Dixon: Did he just say he doesn't want the donor heart?
Izzie: Yes, ma'am.
Dixon: [to patient] Clay Bedonie. Are you aware that without a new heart, you'll live a short life attached to a machine before dying a sudden and agonizing death?
Denny's ghost: [pointing at Dixon] See that? That's what I'm talking about.

Clay: I appreciate you trying to advise me to do what you think is best.
Dixon: These are facts, not opinions.
Clay: What I'm saying, is--

Denny's ghost: That's a good idea.
Clay: The heart that you take out of me... what happens to it?
Dixon: Goes from the OR to Pathology to medical waste.
Clay: I'm gonna need that heart back. For a ritual.
Dixon: We have laws... there are rules. Rules are rules.
Bailey: Maybe there's a compromise to be made here. We could, I don't know, give him back the old heart to do the ritual, then give him a chance to live by still putting the new heart in.
Clay & Dixon: No.
Izzie: It doesn't work that way.
Clay: I would still be haunted. Just by a new ghost.
Dixon: There are rules! We have laws and there are... Rules are rules, and laws are laws. Nope. [Dixon walks out]

Bailey: Uhm, I need the hospital rules to specify the fact that we must respect all religious and spiritual beliefs of our patients.
Chief: The rules.
Bailey: Yeah, I'm asking you to declare a rule of our department.

Bailey: Yes.
Chief: Isn't that just common courtesy?
Bailey: Yes.
Chief: Then why am I declaring it?
Bailey: Uhm, Dr. Dixon doesn't do common courtesy, but she understands rules. So, if it's a rule it's golden, if not we have a pissed off patient, an apoplectic surgeon and none of those things makes for a successful procedure on a faulty heart. Not to mention the failure to 'woo'.
Chief: You want me to announce it as a rule.
Bailey: Uh, I'm here as a witness, you can raise your right hand, put your left one on the physician's desk reference...
Chief: [declares] It's a rule!
Bailey: Thank you.

Dixon: The black woman, the male and the woman with yellow hair.
Cristina: Not that I'm aware of...
Dixon: Then why are you talking to me?

Bailey: Dr. Dixon, there is a rule regarding giving medical waste to the patient. Dr. Dixon?
Dixon: Huh... What?
Bailey: Uh, I was just saying there's a rule. An official, very very specific rule that in the event a patient asks for their organ or body part back for any reason related to or involving their cultural beliefs, we must respect that patient's wishes and return that organ to the patient. That is the rule I forgot to tell you about.
Dixon: If I went down to Pathology right now would they know about the rule?
Bailey: Oh, the Chief would know. It's his rule. He declared it. Rule's a rule.
Dixon: Dr. Karev, make sure that we follow the Chief's rule and return the heart to the patient after the surgery. I'm... going back to work now.

Dixon: Your heart had six years to rest which is... probably enough time for it to repair itself, that's why it started beating again. I've never seen this before. I've read about it but I've never seen it before.

Clay: Science is a belief. You believe in only what you can see, and touch. I believe in more.

This was my first OTP and is still an OTP of mine, but well, I'm not that crazy over them anymore. I gradually lost interest in the show ever since season 7, which IMO, is the season where things started to go downhill (even without the GSR, the season wasn't too good), because I was super disappointed that there were hardly any interactions between Catherine and Grissom. It's like their friendship just disappeared or something. But for some unknown reason I continued to watch it whenever I have the time. ANYWAY.

But, I'm going to be slipping away from this life very soon and I've gotten kind of curious as to what's that going to be like. So I did some research, and there are some people who say that when people are getting closer to their death, they just don't care so much about rules and laws and conventional morality.
Gaius: Are you threatening me?
Laura: No, no. I'm just saying have a quiet life, and I'll die a quiet little death, and everyone will be happy. It's just that I'm not in the mood any longer to indulge you and that's... (dramatic pause) all. (Laura gets up and puts on glasses) And you are being released so, stay safe.

I needed to put Starbuck in here because you just know that even though Laura tried to kill Starbuck and Starbuck kind of hates Laura now, and Starbuck sort of insulted Laura's boyfriend and Laura sort of doesn't trust her now, they really are BFFs. You just know it.
